Welcome to the website for the Conference on Iran's Economy, 2010. This conference is scheduled to take place on October 15-17, 2010 at the University of Chicago (UC). The conference is organized by the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at UC and the Center for South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (CSAMES) and the Department of Economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), with support from a number of academic units and community organizations and sponsors. The purpose of the conference is to provide a venue for the best current research on Iran’s economy and to generate information and encouragement for future high quality research in this subject.
The conference features a special session on Sunday October 17, consisting of presentations on economics research and methodology by eminent Chicago economists.
This conference follows two earlier ones on Iran’s economy at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in December 2008 and at the University of Southern California (USC) in September 2009, where similar objectives were pursued. All three universities have played major roles in the past in promoting research on Iran and in training Iranian economists.
